Chinese minister asks India not to be ‘over concerned’ about Pak corridor - The Times of India

Chinese minister asks India not to be ‘over concerned’ about Pak corridor - The Times of India: "BEIJING: Chinese assistant foreign minister Liu Jianchao on Friday asked India not be "over-concerned" about the proposed China-Pakistan economic corridor, which would connect Gwadar sea port with Xinjiang. He insisted it does not pass through any area, which India has territorial claims over.

"The project between China and Pakistan does not concern the relevant dispute between India and Pakistan. I do not think the Indian side should be over concerned about that," Liu told reporters here ahead of president Xi Jinping's two-day visit to Islamabad beginning Monday.

Liu's statement comes even as the corridor passes through Gilgit-Baltistan region, which was part of the erstwhile undivided Jammu & Kashmir before it was separated from POK and eventually given provincial status a few years back.

Liu said the corridor is much larger than mere investments because it involves deepening of China-Pakistan relationship. "
